Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering 2013-14

The 18th batch of Post Graduate Diploma course shall commence from 19th August, 2013
The main aim of the course is to create a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the state, central and private power utilities and allied industry etc
All these organizations shall obviously prefer these trained graduate engineers
This is a one year course consisting of 2 semesters covering formal training at institutes and on-job training at thermal plants
This course is conducted at Regional Institutes of NPTI located at Badarpur (New Delhi), Nangal (Punjab), Neyveli (Tamilnadu), Durgapur (WB), Guwahati (Assam) and Nagpur (Maharashtra), whereas the simulator training forming an integral part of the course shall be conducted at Badarpur, Faridabad, Nagpur Institutes
Eligibility Criteria: The candidates who have obtained B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical/Electrical/ Power Engineering or its equivalent
Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply and they must submit their final degree/ provisional degree issued by university at the time of counseling
Graduate Engineers sponsored by PSUs/Private Power Utilities with at least one year post qualification experience as on 01st July, 2013, and minimum 60% marks in B.E./B.Tech/equivalent degree
Selection Procedure: The admission to Post Graduate Diploma course will be done on merit basis of common entrance test (CET-2013) followed by counseling at NPTI Nagpur
CET-2013 will be held on 23th June, 2013 at Delhi, Faridabad, Nangal, Neyveli, Bangalore, Durgapur, Guwahati and Nagpur
The duration of CET will be 150 minutes
The question paper will consist of multiple choice objective questions
Each correct answer will be of two (2) marks
Incorrect answer will result in negative marking of half (1/2) a mark
The result of CET-2013 for all candidates who appeared for the exam will be displayed on the website on13th July, 2013 for each individual only
However for counseling purpose the list of candidates in each category who are short listed for counseling based on their rank in CET-2013 will be displayed on or before 13th July, 2013
Course Fee: The course fees is Rs 2,00,000/- plus service tax 12.36% for non-sponsored and Rs 3,10,000/- plus service tax 12.36% for sponsored candidates
The candidate who is allotted a seat during counseling will be required to deposit the 1st installment fee of Rs 20,000/- plus service tax 12.36% (sponsored/non-sponsored) immediately without which admission will not be confirmed
The payment of fees is only through demand draft favoring NPTI Nagpur, (non-refundable) as confirmation fee for admission
No other mode of payment is acceptable
The non sponsored candidates will be required to pay the balance fees of Rs 1,80,000/- plus service tax 12.36% in two equal installments (2nd Installment of Rs 90,000/- plus service tax 12.36% at time of joining the institute and 3rd installment of Rs 90,000/- plus service tax 12.36% on or before 25th November, 2013) in the admitted Institute
The sponsored candidate will be required to pay the balance fees of Rs 2,90,000/- plus service tax 12.36% at time of joining in the admitted Institute in single installment
Seats: The ratio of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering candidates will be 60:40
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PC as per Govt of India norms
25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience as on 01st July, 2013 and more than 60% marks in engineering degree
Age Limit: For the non sponsored candidates maximum age limit as on 01st July, 2013 is 27 years
However, there is no age limit for the sponsored candidates
Relaxation to the reserved category candidate is as per Govt of India norms
Counseling: Counseling will be held at NPTI (WR), Nagpur between 29th July, 2013 to 01st August, 2013
The candidate must appear in person at the counseling date along with all relevant original documents including caste certificate (if applicable), date of birth certificate, educational qualifications etc
The list of documents to be carried for counseling round would be published on the www.npticet.com website before counseling round
The schedule of counseling round and merit list candidates allowed to appear for counseling round would be displayed on website www.npticet.com
In addition, the sponsored candidate have to produce sponsorship letter, experience certificate, photocopy of appointment letter in the said organization, photocopy of 12 months salary slip and statement of salary payment for last one year duly attested by sponsoring organization/authority or bank statement for last one year showing credit of salary in the bank duly attested by the bank manager at the time of counseling
Application Form: Applications are to be filled online from website www.npticet.com
The registration fee is Rs 900/- to be paid in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of NPTI Nagpur payable at Nagpur and the details of the demand draft to be given while filling online application
Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site
This ID must be preserved for future references
Last date for online registration is 20th April, 2013
One registration hardcopy along with the demand draft should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), Nagpur-440022 latest by 03rd May, 2013 before 1600 Hours
The registration shall be confirmed online only after the receipt of the hard copy of registration details with demand draft
