UG/PG/Ph.D Programme Admission-2013

The following educational programmes are being offered at NDRI, Karnal and its Southern Regional campus, Bangalore

B.Tech (Dairy Technology), Master’s Programme, Doctor of Philosophy

Admissions strictly through entrance examinations

B.Tech (Dairy Technology) (4 years): The candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian University/Board after a period of 12 years of study

The last two years of such 10+2 examination should have papers in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as a core subject

Candidate must have passed the qualifying examinations as enumerated above securing not less than
50% of the total marks for General/OBC/UPS categories and 40% of the total marks for SC/ST/Physically handicapped categories

Candidates due to appear at the final examination given above can also apply subject to their declaration of result before the date of counseling by ICAR

Candidate with a compartment/supplementary in any of the subjects will not be eligible

Admission Procedure: Admission shall be made on the basis of merit through All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi

Master’s Degree Programmes: The Institute offers Master’s degree programmes at NDRI, Karnal in 13 disciplines and also at SRS, Bangalore in the discipline of Dairy Technology

Masters students in other disciplines may also carry out their dissertation work at the Regional Stations of
NDRI (ERS, Kalyani and SRS, Bangalore) and other ICAR Institutes after finishing their course work at Karnal/ Bangalore campus

Master’s degree programme with M.Sc/M.Tech/M.V.Sc AH degree in following disciplines is offered at Karnal

Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Technology, Animal Biochemistry, Animal Biotechnology, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Livestock Production and Management, Animal Nutrition, Animal Physiology, Dairy Economics, Dairy Extension Education, Agronomy (Forage Production)

Master’s degree programme in following disciplines is offered at Bangalore

Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering

Duration: The duration of Master’s degree Programme ranges from two to three years depending on the background of the students at graduation level, as pure science students are offered additional remedial/ prerequisite courses

Admission shall be made on the basis of merit through All India entrance examination conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi

Eligibility: Candidates having passed (or due to appear at the final examination) their Bachelor degree in the concerned field under 10+2+5, 10+2+4 or 10+2+3 year degree programmes

The candidate must have secured overall grade point average (OGPA) of at least 6.60/10.00 in ten-point scale, at least 3.25/5.00 in five-point scale, at least 2.60/4.00 in four-point scale for General/OBC/UPS categories candidates

For SC/ST/PH candidates the said requirement is an OGPA of at least 5.60/10.00, 2.75/ 5.00, 2.20/4.00 respectively

In other cases, where grade points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General/OBC/UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/PH the requirement is 50% marks (equivalence between OGPA and percentage marks will not be acceptable)

The candidate must have passed B.V.Sc & A.H. with Internship before the date of registration at NDRI

Ph.D: The Institute offers Ph.D programmes at NDRI, Karnal and after doing course work the students may be placed at Karnal or Bangalore/ Kolkata campus and also other ICAR Institutes for undertaking the thesis work
