Applications are invited for admission to 2 year M.A. (Day)/M.A. (Evening) courses 2013-2014
M.A. (Day): English, Comparative Literature, Bengali, Economics, Film Studies, Education, Political Science with International Relations, History, Sanskrit, Linguistics, Philosophy, Sociology
M.A. (Evening): Bengali, Sanskrit
Eligibility Criteria
Master of Arts (Day)
History: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in the subject from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers
Bengali: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers
Philosophy: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in the subject from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD and 40% for SC/ST) in Honours papers
Economics: 3 year B.A./B.Sc Honours degree or its equivalent in Economics from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD and 40% for SC/ST) in Honours papers and at least two papers/ courses in Mathematics or Mathematical Economics
Comparative Literature: 3 year Honours degree or its equivalent in any literature or non-literature subject in Arts/Commerce/Science stream with at least 50% marks (45% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers or degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised bachelor degree
English: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in English or in Comparative Literature from any recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers
Film Studies: 3 year Honours degree or its equivalent in Film Studies or any subject in Arts/ Commerce/ Science stream or degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or such other recognised Bachelor degree
A 3 year B.A. degree with Film Studies as a subject of study carrying at least 300 marks
Political Science with International Relations: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in Political Science from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers
Sanskrit: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in Sanskrit or Comparative Literature from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category)
In case of Comparative Literature the candidate must have Sanskrit as one of the subjects carrying minimum 300 marks
Education: (Category-I) 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in Education from a recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for PD and 40% for SC/ST) in the Honours papers
(Category-II) 3 year B.A. Honours in any subject with at least 50% marks (45% for PD and 40% for SC/ST) from any recognised university with B.Ed degree (from Jadavpur University only)
2 seats are available for the category
Sociology: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in Sociology from a recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers
Linguistics: 3 year Honours degree or its equivalent in any literature or non-literature subject in Arts/ Commerce/ Science stream with at least 50% marks (45% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers or degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised bachelor degree
Master of Arts (Evening) Courses
Bengali: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category)
Sanskrit: 3 year B.A. Honours degree or its equivalent in Sanskrit or Comparative Literature from a recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for PD category and 40% for SC/ST category)
In case of Comparative Literature the candidate must have Sanskrit as one of the subjects carrying minimum 300 marks
Candidates who have appeared in the B.A./B.Sc final examination 2013 after securing Honours in the earlier part or parts (Part-I/Part-II examination) of the course may also apply
For such candidates the latest available Honours marks in semester system/ annual system of examination will be considered for preparing the merit list
Application Form: Applications are to be made on-line through the university website www.jaduniv.edu.in on and from 09th April, 2013
Important Dates
The last date for submission of form for M.A. (Day)/M.A. (Evening) courses is 03rd May, 2013
List of eligible candidates for admission test will be published on: 07th May, 2013 after 04.00 p.m
