Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (DU), contributes significantly in the sphere of HRD for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries
The university conducts Ph.D, M.Tech and PG Diploma Programmes
Ph.D: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Materials Engineering
Eligibility: 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M.Tech for Ph.D in Engineering
Master of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D in Science
GATE Score/UGC-CSIR NET certificate
Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply
Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview
Provisional passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program
Selection: Admission to Ph.D will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview
Scholarship: Selected students will be eligible for scholarship as per MHRD guidelines
M.Tech: Aerospace Engineering (Guided Missiles), Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security), Radars and Communication, Mechanical Engineering (Armament/Combat Vehicles), Materials Science and Technology, Lasers and Electro-optics, Modeling and Simulation, Chemical Science and Technology
Eligibility: 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination and valid GATE score/UGC-CSIR NET certificate
The qualification should have been obtained from a recognized (by UGC) University/Deemed University/ Institution in India
The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply
Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed
Provisional certificate in such cases along with mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program
Candidates with AMIE/ Aero Society degree with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA also are eligible
PG Diploma in Bio Science and Technology
Eligibility: M.Sc in Life Science and Physical Sciences/B.E. or B.Tech in any branch of Engineering or B.Sc degree with minimum 2 years of research experience in R&D institutions
GATE score/UGC/CSIR NET certificate is not required for PG Diploma in Bio-Science and Technology
Age Limit: Not more than 26 years as on 01st July, 2013
Relaxations as per GoI rules apply to SC/ST/OBC/PH applicants
Scholarship: As per MHRD/AICTE guidelines Rs 8000/- per month at present
For PG Diploma students, there is no scholarship available
However, efforts are being made to offer some scholarship
How to apply: Candidates have to apply online on the website www.diatonline.co.in
Application fee of Rs 200/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST candidates) per programme is required to be paid by demand draft drawn in favour of Vice Chancellor, DIAT, Pune, payable at Pune
The application has to be uploaded as per the instructions provided in the website www.diatonline.co.in
A print out of the application acknowledgement generated by the system after upload of application has to be forwarded to the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advance Technology, Pune-411025 along with the demand draft drawn and with the self certified copies of mark lists, certificates and other testimonials
These documents should reach latest by 12th May, 2013
Application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with demand draft
Also, candidates have to bring a print out of the application acknowledgement along with proof of payment, at the time of test/interview
